Internationalisation of the economy is taking place every day on our roads: people and goods from throughout the world have to be moved, and in the quickest time possible. This results in traffic jams, and not only in the Rhine-Ruhr urban agglomeration. How transportation and traffic function, how they can be organised better and what the reaction is to constantly changing requirements in transportation, traffic and logistics is taught by the Business Engineering degree course in Recklinghausen. Students are equipped with skills in both business management as well as technical engineering aspects. The degree course is one of the few in North Rhine-Westphalia that gives the opportunity of concentrating upon the fields of automobiles, traffic and logistics.
After they have completed the basic study programme, students specialise upon one of three subjects: the goal of the Automobile Trade and Industry course is to become familiar with the world of the automotive industry including its supplier and marketing systems. Students learn about the processes involved when a car comes into being: from design, through production right up to marketing and sales.
Students in the Traffic – Logistics course work between the exit gate of one company and the entrance gate to the next. Traffic logicians make decisions upon transportation types, transportation methods and transportation costs. They not only know everything about prices and delivery times, they are also experts in container technology, loading systems and cold storage unit chains. Design of new transportation systems is also part of their range of tasks. |

"Quick", "cost-effective" and "on-time" are the keywords for the Corporate Logistics course. Corporate logicians are the masters over drive units and control systems, over materials flow and over operation facility planning. They will find their workplaces in, for instance, supermarket chain groups where they control goods reception, stock level monitoring and goods issue. The District of Recklinghausen and the Emscher-Lippe Region are located at the intersection point of European travel axes. This is the reason for numerous companies being located here from the traffic, transportation and logistics sectors. Students therefore have an ideal environment for their degree studies, one that offers supervised work experience, company-based study projects, and degree theses subjects and, of course, opportunities for their subsequent entry into a professional career. |
